The one-off Audi R8 Star of Lucis is a one-off creation for the Japanese market, which has been fashioned around the plot of the upcoming Final Fantasy XV game.
Square Enix and Audi have also created an elaborate backstory to the car, which ties into its storyline, although the car doesn’t reportedly feature in the game at all.
According to the companies, the R8 Star of Lucis was crafted for the crown prince of the fictional Kingdom of Lucis. As such, the car is finished in the kingdom’s most noble colour, black.
The detailing on the R8’s side blades, air intakes, wing mirrors, and rear wing all feature an Arabesque pattern from “the Tenebrae oracle clan [that] confers peace, blessings and well being”.
Meanwhile, the Star of Lucis’ wheels incorporates a rose petal patterns interwoven with elements taken from the kingdom’s “finely sculpted swords”.
While the interior looks like a fine place to be, it’s a little less unique than the exterior, and features orange stitching, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a Virtual Cockpit instrument panel, and built-in internet connectivity.
The R8 Star of Lucis is powered by the 449kW/560Nm version of the 5.2-litre V10 used in the R8 Plus. Paired with all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed transmission, the R8 Star of Lucis good for a 0-100km/h time of 3.2 seconds, and a top speed of 330km/h.
The one-off R8 is priced at 50,000,015 yen ($620,600). Interested buyers won’t have to bid or fight over the vehicle, as the car’s purchaser will be chosen by a lottery system, which opens on November 21.
Final Fantasy XV goes on sale on November 29 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
